I highly recommend you start reading this forum. It is xda's sub forum for the Sapphire, aka MyTouch3G/Magic/what ever they called it. Try and read as much about the basics...

Don't do anything just yet, though. Do you have the newest, newest MyTough3G with the 3.5mm jack?

I ask because there is a difference between the two, and it means a different process.
