My HTC MyTouch 3G is missing wi-fi as a feature!
I just bought a new unlocked HTC MyTouch 3G from Newegg this past President's Day weekend,
"contract free".
I intended to just use my existing T-Mobile prepaid account and just enjoy the phone using
wi-fi. The problem is, I cannot log into Google using the phone b/c I don't even see wi-fi as
an option. One of the big reasons I bought this phone was to use wi-fi to get my apps. I
don't need 3G service.

You must have a unlimited text messaging plan with tmobile to unlock the wifi feature
...
Are you joking or is this a serious comment? I have never heard of this (and I am in T-Mobile telesales) and don't see any way that T-Mobile could set a phone up that way (and I am an Android junkie.) Not saying that you must be wrong since I have never heard of it, just asking before I have to go search this when I'm off work. Lol
To the OP: You probably need to bypass the setup screen. For most HTC phones I have tried it on all you have to do is touch the 4 corners of the screen starting with the upper left corner and going around in a clockwise fashion while on the very first screen of setup. Give that a try, if you have no luck with that google "xda developers forum" and take a look on there for a solution. That is an excellent resour...
