Do all WM phones suck??

I've owned a treo 700w, and a samsung i-730 both on Verizon's network.

I have to start everyday with a soft reset, 30% plus calls take 2-4 tries to complete or another soft reset. I've been interupted so many @$#%#$^ times when I'm dialing a number and the phone has to tell me I have messages waiting or missed an appointment after which I have to start dialing again. I truely miss having voice recognition that works. It's always nice finding out 3 days to a week afterwards that someone left me a voice mail.

I don't run much of any 3rd party apps. My wife now uses my old i-730 without any apps and it still does the same things driving her totally nuts.

The voicemail and dropped/no calls I blame on Verizon's poor coverage ar...

i've used WM devices, not phones, but PDA's.

The 700wx Sprint Version worked fine for me. I found more problems with Windows Mobile 6 (If only I had discovered that prior to choosing this name). I like WM5 and Palm. I have one phone of each.

That's the truth. That, and people act like no other OS screws up. You have no idea how many Blackberry & Palm calls I get at work.

I miss my old Palm PDA.

I will try a Smarter...smart phone asap. I would be tickled pink if it ran like a Blackberry

I have the MDA from Tmobile for about a year now. I haven't noticed any of the problems the topic beginner had. LOL. Must be Verizon integration of the phone. They cut off so many options that the phone just may lose it. LoL.

Once more, do all WM phones suck or just these two? How's WM6 working?

Hell no!

I guess it depends on the phone... if you have a handset with a slow ass processor and little RAM that's running Windows Mobile, you're f*cked.

Some tips:

To save battery, download an application called LowLight.

When you access/run anything on Windows Mobile, that application/process usually doesn't close until you kill the task or exit the application. So make good use of your phone's task manager when you're not using an app and kill that app! If you don't have a task manager... get one damn-it.

For owner's of an HTC device visit the forums on www.xda-developers.com for applications, twe...

You'll need to download WM6 and a ROM for your phone. In addition to that you'll need a data cable & and an application (Tera Term) to access your handset to format it. ActiveSync won't do it.

I'm at work, unfortunately I can't provide any direct links. If you have an HTC device go to the forums on http://www.xda-devlopers.com and find your handset. From there you can see if anyone cooked up a ROM for your phone. Just follow the instructions for updating your phone. If your manufacturer isn't HTC, use google to find applicable sites for updating your OS.

Some phones have official software updates/patches that will update your phone to WM6.

Good luck, don't brick your phone. :c)
