Treo 650 CDMA How to activate

I am a Canadian living in Indonesia. I just bought (and haven't yet received) a Treo 650 CDMA phone off EBay.

Here in Indonesia both CDMA and GSM phones (I own a Treo 600) use a SIM card to activate thye phone.

My question is - how are the CDMA phones in the States and Canada activated? Can I buy a CDMA SIM card here in Indonesia and use the Treo 650 CDMA or is the phone locked to a certain service in USA/Canada?

Can I use the CDMA Treo 650 in Indonesia?

CDMA phones don't use SIM cards, so you out of luck on that aspect.

As far as if you're able to use it there, you're going to have to consult with a local CDMA carrier and see if they are able to activate that phone.

The information that I found is that your treo uses the 850/1900 bands while Indonesia uses 900/1800 so it may not even work.

SIMs are only used in GSM phones, CDMA is a complete different technology. The only way you will be able to use the CDMA treo is if :

1. Your service provider is using a CDMA system.
2. You will have to take the phone into your service provider to be flashed with thier settings.
3. You will also have to have the service provider activate the Phone, The ESN will have to be entered into thier system along with the phone # being programmed into your phone along with the System ID, Network ID, and a usuable PRL.
