Anyone use a Treo 600/650 as a GPS with mapping capability?

I have a Sprint Treo 600, but I'm thinking of going GSM with T Mobile (I travel the world at least 1-2 times a year). Coincidently, my old Garmin boat GPS died, and I'm trying to find out about using the Treo with an available GPS unit.

I've found a few hardware GPS add-on units on the web. I've also found some software for streets and for boats, but have never talked with someone who actually used this system...I'd sure like to.

The boat use would be very seldom, so I don't want to spend big bucks on a stand-alone unit, even though the display would be bigger. I found a marine mapping GPS software for Palm OS with free maps once you buy the initial software for $180.

Jeff, I believe the Tro650 is bluetooth enabled so, I would suggest trying out a bluetooth GPS receiver.

You can get a standard 3-5 meter GPS unit for a couple of hundred or you could get a submeter unit for $1000.

I think, from reading the website, it doesn't work with Palm OS.
