Treo 650, uploading images > 300K?

by chimpanzee    Apr 7, 2005, 1:29 AM

I just got a Treo 650..& want to put an SD card (filled with images taken on my digital camera) in the SD slot, & upload the images to my website.

Apparently, I can do that with the email function..just attach an image. Except there's a catch..there's a 300K limit on the message length! (Anyone know of any way to get around it?) I have a 5Mpixel digital camera, so this obviously won't do.

Other Options:

I tried a photo-website Flickr.com, which allows one to upload images by "browsing for an image on your computer". It works from my desktop PC (or Mac), but the functions don't seem to be enabled for the Treo 650's browser (Blazer).

Is this intentional..Blazer doesn't allow browser-based uploads?

[ i suppose this makes sense, since they want to avoid some abusive uploading ]

Is there some sort of FTP program which will run on the Treo 650?.. it would simply upload images on the SD card.

I can't seem to find any sort of FTP program, in the main menu of the Treo 650.

Anyone else, try to do uploads (Edge network is DSL speed, right?) of big images, say from a 5M pixel digital camera?

Anyone try to BT (bluetooth) an image to the Treo 650, which in turn uploads it to the Web? There is software by Idruna (http://www.idruna.com), which does this using the following hardware:

Canon 20D w/WiFi adapter [ WiFi's image to HP 4705 PPC (pocketPC) ]
HP 4705 PPC [ receives from above, & captions the image, BT's it to a BT phone ]
BT phone [ uploads the received image to the Web ]

I suppose the Treo 650 could be the BT phone. I have another phone (Samsung MM-A700, it's a 1.2M pixel picture cellphone, fairly late-model), which is not BT, but I have a cable which connects the HP4705 to it..so I can circumvent the BT & go "wire". This combo will apparently get my high Megapixel image uploaded to the Web.
