6700 or treo 650

Jan 19, 2006, 2:40 AM
Whats up everyone,

jus curious what everyone thinks about the 650 or the 6700 I work for Telus in Canada and I am trying to choose which one to pick. I am leaning towards the 6700 due to the WiFi and EVDO when it comes to my province. One thing I am wanting is t turn my mp3s into ringtones with my mini SD. If anyone could tell me if they both have this feature or if I have to download the apps to enable this please let me know. Id apperciate any help.

I have a 650. It does not come capable of using mp3's as ringtones, but you can download (at a cost of around 30 dollars I think) a program called Ringo that takes care of that. I don't know much about the 6700. I hope this post isn't too late.

I know with the 6600 you can drag over .wav files and use those music files as ringtones. maybe the Treo does the same. Just use a different file extension on the song.

It depends. Are you looking for a PDA or Phone? I started with the 6700, and it was a freaking fantastic PDA. I had no issues at all. Wifi and EVDO were great. Windows never crashed (compared to what everyone in the US seems to have happen). Plus the expandable Memory.

Now the only problem is that it is a horrendous phone. I mean crap. On your end, the hearing if muffled and quiet (even when maxed). Driving and using it in a public place (like the mall of office) just doesn't work. On the other end everyone told me I was quiet and that I sounded tinny.

I was really disappointed because I loved the 6700 and I really wanted it to work. I didn't want to give it up at all, but I need a good phone, and it didn't have that. So I went to the...

The 6700 is way better than the 650. Windows media player, 1.3 megapixel camera/video, etc, etc...... I had a Treo 650. I really tried to like it. (I didn't like having 3 damn 650s in a month.) It limited me in so many ways (slow internet, no video messaging, vga camera {once you have 1.3 meg, why the hell do you wanna go back?!}). I thought the Palm format would be better; I loved the threaded sms, but that was it. The 6700, except for the occasional freezing up, is perfect so far.

FYI: The 6700 does let you turn your mp3s into ringtones.

.... That's why i said, "so far". The VX6700 was freezing on me, even with one program open. How many daily resets can a brotha do. That's whyt I traded it in for the Q again. The 650 has it's own problems, but not constant freezing. It works great as a secondary phone for me.
