Windows Mobile phones, is it just a hardware difference?

by karen    Dec 5, 2006, 3:04 AM

Eh?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide which phone to buy and I apologize in advance for really not understanding the technology behind all the different phones out there. I'm looking for a pda/smartphone that runs Windows Mobile.

What I would love help on is trying to understand what the difference is between phones that use the same windows operating system. Is is just a hardware difference, meaning different buttons, scroll bars, look/feel? In which case I'll probably pick the one that's the lightest and easy to fit in my purse.

Or does each mfg. actually do something unique to change the windows operating system so that some phones might be easier to use than others not because of hardware but because of some software integration?

Sorry I know this is may seem like a silly question, still trying to learn about phones!

Many thanks in advance!
