Don't think VZW or Sprint will update their manufactured WM5 OS to WM6 by software or firmware.
VZW and Sprint would rather make another phone, and possibly the same phone with the new WM6 to capitalize on phone revenue.
Just how big corporations roll. Perfect example, Microsoft launched a software to improve the 6700 for Sprint and VZW, and both carriers denied the software.
