During a Superbowl commercial, Sony Ericsson revealed the new Xperia Play Android handset, which is focused on gaming. The device is a sideways slider that has Playstation-style gaming controls instead of a QWERTY keyboard. Sony Ericsson didn't provide pricing or availability information, nor did it suggest what carrier might offer the device. AT&T has sold Sony Ericsson's Xperia handsets in the past.

Interesting

As a 26 yr old male, Playstation has played a vital role in my life. The thought of getting Jet Moto, Bloody Roar or Twisted Metal on my phone makes me tingle. If I can trade out my brickbreaker games or solitare for some legit old school PSOne games, I'll abandon my Blackberry allegiance.
I guess all the gamers will be porting back to AT&T from VZW after wanderlust for the cdma iP4 grows old on them. Thats if AT&T gets this device?

I suppose if one is already with T-Mobile or AT&T...

One Concern.

My Son is avid in gaming. He loves the playstation. However, He's gone through countless game controllers. How does this work in a situation like his? Frequent insurance deductibles would kill the whole momentum of continued support for this.

Extended warranty is a must. If the controller fails without evidence of damage that should be a warranty issue.

I'm not sure I get it...

If Sony is planning to release Playstation games for all android handsets running v2.3 then why this phone? I'm pretty sure this phone will fail. They should just concentrate on making the software for android work well....
You don't get what? If an avid gamer is looking for a phone, then this would be it. Sure, they'll has PS games for 2.3's but what kind of control input limitations would you face? This phone addresses that for the consumers that place a higher importa...
