Net Neutrality Mildly Impacts Wireless
Dec 21, 2010, 2:18 PM by Eric M. Zeman
The Federal Communications Commission today voted in favor of new net neutrality rules for broadband networks, and included several provisions for wireless internet service providers. Under the new rules, wireless providers would not be able to block users from accessing any web site. Wireless providers also wouldn't be allowed to block internet calling services that make use of wireless broadband data connections (or any competitive service). The providers would also have to publicly disclose their network management practices. However, the providers would have the say-so to manage their networks in order to deal with congestion. The net neutrality bill was voted in by 3 to 2, down party lines with Democrats in favor of it. The Democrat-proposed legislation will have to clear the House of Representatives, however, which will be controlled by Republicans come 2011.

I think they got a good compromise
As long as similar traffic types receive similar prioritization and similar pricing, things will work out fine. If carrier supported services start to get price breaks and "fast lane" benefits, then I will start complaining.
The carrier needs to be the pipe, but in wireless it cannot be a "dumb" pipe. It has to be a smart pipe.
Not enough..
