After nearly a year of trial testing, Cox Communications is officially launching its wireless service, called "Unbelievably Fair." That is the service's official name, not an adjectival description. Unbelievably Fair will launch in three markets: Orange County, California; Omaha, Nebraska; and Hampton Roads, Virginia, the original three test markets. Monthly service will be available for $40, and Cox is planning some unique offers, like offering to refund some money for unused minutes, up to a $20 savings per month. Cox will also offer bundled packages that include a home phone, a wireless phone, a home data connection and cable television. The company will buy 3G network access from Sprint, and will offer devices including Android phones like the HTC Desire and Motorola Milestone (Droid). Cox has previously said it plans to build its own network, and has indicated an interest to use 4G LTE technology. The wireless service is available now in the select markets, and Cox expects to expand its service to any market where it maintains a foothold in cable television.

Comcast will be following soon....

I've been bugging my brother who works with Comcast about any info on Comcast's plans to jump into the Wireless service.

He can't give me any concret info but if phonescoops article a while back about Comcast providing SMS text messages to customers via a network of their own.

One can't put the idea off that Comcast is gunning to make a footmark in the Wireless world.

Cox and Comcast feel the pressure from At&t and VZN that already offer combine services with home and wireless.

Def an uphill climb what a joke actually

I just glanced at there offerings nothing special and not cheaper by the time you add it all up. See no benefit in going w what there offering if I Lived in one of there wireless areas. Sprint & Uscellular still have the best rate plans of the contract players!
