AT&T Says 80% of Its Network Now Upgraded to HSPA+

Speaking at an event, AT&T CTO John Donovan said that the company has upgraded 80% of its 3G network to faster HSPA+ technology. AT&T reiterated that it expects to cover 250 million POPs with HSPA+ by the end of 2010. AT&T didn't specify what speeds its HSPA+ network is capable of. T-Mobile s pitching its HSPA+ network, which is capable of theoretical max download speeds of 21Mbps, as "4G." Donovan didn't state what markets are encompassed by this 80% HSPA+ upgrade.

First Sprint comes out with their Gimmic The HTC EVO or shall i say "The first WiMAX" phone reaching "4g" speeds. Its a funny thing (the term 4g) becuase its very clear what the standard is for 4g. As per (ITU) 4g is ONLY 4g at speeds of 100mbps. Sprint came out swinging the wrong bat here. especially when their Wimax Network hasn't even been introduced to nearly 50% of the market at the time of launch. Ooh not to mention the mandatory $10.00 4g fee sprint charges their customers... ALTHOUGH their not using this new network. I guess Sprint thought it was safe to call something 4g just because of the IPhone4.

Question for other T-Mobile reps. Our "4G" coverage, isn't this still hspa+? witch is our 3.5G lol or did they decide to just call it 4G because it was to confusing for customers?

80% of their 3G markets - which are already lacking (roughly about 25% of their market across America) ... HRM..Sad state of numbers, but the iTools will parrot..SEE SEE! We have fast 3G 🤣
The other day I was just outside of Grand Rapids Michigan and I had no 3G with my IPhone. What a joke...... maybe they should consider expanding the 3G service areas also. Then they wonder why people are critical, hmmm I wonder.

This is just from what ive heard SO ITS A RUMOR....but appearently this "hspa+" upgrade to their network will give them a whopping 7.2mbps theoretical speed.....which is sad when you compare it to t-mobiles hspa+.

HSPA+ is not available in the Denver area. Just tested with an unlocked T-Mobile webConnect, which supports HSPA+ on both AT&T's and T-Mobile's frequencies. But you now who does support HSPA+ in the area? T-Mobile...
What speeds are you getting on T-Mobile there using the webConnect stick?
I totally disagree. I have the new LG Adrenaline and am getting crazy speeds. I am averaging somewhere around 5Mbs down and 1.5Mbs up on the western side of metro Denver. I have seen much higher. Wish my latency was lower, but have seen it as low ...

If they'll try and market it as 4G like T-Mobile is....I'm thinking not, if they supposedly have LTE in their plans.
Here is AT&T's plans with LTE, another words, they will be an entire year behind Verizon.

What A World We Live In.
We went from huge phones down to thin clamshells. Then we slowly usher in new larger tablet design devices(larger phones and new tablets Then Sony reveals a smaller remote to make these larger devices more portable.
We at one point not long ago, had Pocket PCs that had Styli. Everyone was glad to see capacitive screens initiate the intuitive touch technology to eliminate the need for Styli.
