Qualcomm Will Ship Dual-Core, 1.5 GHz Chips in Q4

Qualcomm will ship a newer version of its Snapdragon processor by the end of this year, with devices to follow soon after. The new dual-core QSD8672 chip will run at clock speeds up to 1.5GHz. The chip will be manufactured using a 45nm process. The new processor will use a feature Qualcomm calls individual voltage scaling, so each of the two cores can be clocked independently for better power management. The chip ups the ante on video capabilities, with the potential to display 1080p video content, up from the 720p capability of the older MSM8660 Snapdragon chip. The new chipset will also integrate HDMI output.

Qualcomm has just announced the two chips that will power a great number of entry-level and mid-range Android phones in 2023: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Both chips integrate a 5G modem and include upgraded performance as well as new features compared to the chips they replace.

When is it going to far with cell phone

ok..when do we draw the line..i mean its great we have all this in a cell phone but why dont we just put graphic cards in these phones too while we are at it....... 🙄

restrictions: size, weight, heat. The step up is something in the neighborhood of a PMP, netbook, or laptop.

Those are just the mass populace though, I'd carry a phone if it was big but capable, like a graphics card to let me play somekind of sweet...

They already do... 🤣 Most Smartphones have a separate gpu already on board. But these new cpu's scare me a bit as far as battery life. They could probably put out 2ghz processors but battery life is holding them back... for now! 😎
