President Obama Signs Law Banning Cell Phones in Prisons

President Barack Obama recently signed Bill S. 1749, which bans prisoners from having cell phones, into law. The law was approved by both the Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year. In addition to making it illegal to have a cell phone in a prison, the law also makes it illegal to smuggle a cell phone into a prison. If caught, cell phone smugglers could themselves wind up in jail for a year. The Federal Bureau of Prisons said that it confiscated about 3,200 cell phones from prisoners last year. The law also mandates that the government circle back a year from now to see how effective the law is in its first year of enforcement.

I did a little time....

A couple of years ago I had to do a couple months in my local county jail for a bar fight i was involved in. One of the other inmates that was on work release smuggled in a Samsung Juke by shoving it up his arse. He was charging other inmates to let them use it to text thier friends and wives. He made a decent amount of cash before he was finally caught.
Several years ago I made a post about Motorola expandind the RAZR line to include the Motorola SHIV and the Motorola SHNK, they have clearly missed this target demographic, and will pay for it dearly.

Not to mention they could be made to be colon ...

Well...............

Prison is called prison for a reason. Televisions, internet, cellphones.....what next filet-mignon with caviar???
Tax money keeps these offenders living like royalty.
Other than dropping the soap, these morons do not have a worry in the world.
Actually, most prisons have no home fund for TV/Cable. It's done by work crews who earn money towards that privilege. Tax money just goes to feed and clothe and contain them really.

Come on!

First you take their freedom when they rape, kill and plunder the masses...now you take their cellphones?! This is too much I say! It's uncivil!

This is a joke for all you R-Tards out there who'd think I was serious.

Well heck the dead beats of society still have their what, one phone call per day?
IDK about the part where people get jail time for smuggling phones into prison. I would think that having to put a cell phone up your hoo-hoo or your bunghole is punishment enough. 😉 (Another joke)

How can we live in a world where prisoners aren't able to have all the luxuries of life!?

Hmmmmmm...

I'm pretty sure it was already illegal for prisoners to possess a cell phone. Another case of politicians posturing to get attention (and votes) which of course, garners more money for them. Great job guys!
Just to clarify, it was never illegal before now for a prisoner to have a cell phone. Once a prisoner is sentenced and turned over that that state's Department of Corrections that prisoner then had to follow the policies of that particular prison. Bas...
