Nokia Siemens Agrees to Acquire Motorola's Network Biz

Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) today announced that NSN has agreed to acquire certain networking business units from Motorola for $1.2 billion. NSN believes the acquisition will help grow its footprint and improve relationships with wireless network operators around the globe. It will also give NSN a large portfolio of CDMA-based technologies. Motorola will hold onto its iDEN business, nearly all the patents related to is wireless network infrastructure business, and other assets. The two companies expect the acquisition to close by the end of the year.
