YouTube today announced a major refresh of its web site specifically for mobile devices. According to YouTube, the site should perform much faster than the original. It also boasts a new user interface, with larger on-screen buttons that are easier to use from touch-based devices. YouTube mobile adds a number of features from the desktop version, including search query suggestions, playlist creation, as well as mark videos as favorites. YouTube said that moving forward, new features introduced on the desktop version will be pushed to the mobile version much quicker. The new mobile version of YouTube (m.youtube.com) is available in English only, and will work first with the iPhone and Android platforms.

Ah, there you go...

...larger controls for those who play their videos in-browser.

What about the pre-installed YouTube app on Android?

Will the new updates be included in the pre-installed YouTube app also? Anybody know?
No, because the update is for the site, not the app, there might be an OTA update for the app, or another app for it.
What I've noticed is that browsing through the website is now a lot faster than browsing through the app, though for whatever reason, you can't toggle high quality when you play a vid from the web.
