AT&T today announced that it has completed its work to bolster the performance of its network in New York City. According to AT&T, customers in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens should be experiencing better service. AT&T took a number of steps to make this improvement. AT&T first upgraded the software at all its cell sites up to HSPA 7.2Mbps. AT&T has also turned on the 850MHz spectrum it owns in New York City, and has enabled this at all its cell sites, too. This added capacity to the network and should improve in-building coverage. Last, AT&T has turned on a giant Wi-Fi hotspot covering the Times Square area of New York to alleviate network congestion in that area. AT&T also provides the Wi-Fi service at many Starbucks locations. As a result of these improvement, AT&T says it has seen a 47% improvement in voice call quality.

no change yet in queens.

I'm still seeing 3.6 on my 7.2 laptop card here in Queens, NY...
Oh? I also love how Staten Island gets no love from AT&T. ;)

Do you have a laptop connect card that's compatible with the 7.2 speeds? Only the new ones are. Not the older push cards or the Quicksilver/Mercury/AC881.

Consumer Reports

I'll wait to see what Consumer Reports says at year's end.
Why wait? In Consumer Reports recent user surveys, AT&T still scores WELL BELOW the other three.

1. Verizon - All RED Circles across the board.
2. T-Mobile - All RED Circles in EVERY ASPECT of Customer Service.
3. Sprint - All BLACK Circles in E...

To Paraphrase that 60's/70's Rock Group, The Who

WE WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN !

Just like when AT&T was the 1st to come out with National Roaming plans, Digital One Rate back in 1998. I'll never forget New Years Eve at Times Square where I couldn't make or receive a call to save my life while EVERYONE around me with a Verizon (then Bell Atlantic Mobile) phone had no problems whatsoever.

AT&T took people for being stupid then and they're doing it again now.

Jobs and AT&T: Made for each other.

So remember, if you're in NYC and your iPhone 4g doesn't work it's your fault.AT&T has plenty of spectrum and you're probably holding your phone wrong in the first place. 😉
Holding an I-phone is like trying to put a square peg into a round hole. 🤣
