As part of a broad attempt to bolster its smartphone business, LG has indicated that it plans to release 20 handsets running Google's Android platform by the end of 2010. Not all of them will be targeted at U.S. consumers, but the new commitment to Android is a major shift in strategy for LG, which had previously committed to Windows Mobile. LG recently released the Ally with Verizon Wireless.

Yeah but 20???

WHY 20?

At the *MOST* you need 2 form factors, a high end and an affordable version if you want to be overkill. Extrapolate that to 4 carriers, branded under different names that's 16 max. 20 is idiotic, and it makes LG look like ridiculous reactionists, "oooo oooo everyone likes android lets make 20!!"

LG has a way of messing up even the best operating systems...LG is making 20 of them? Maybe Google should be a bit restrictive on their OS licensing...
I hear ya. But I wouldn't want Google to restrict it at all. I just wish someone at LG would get it.
I agree, I don't want LG touching anything with a 10 foot pole. Horrible devices and everyone will blame Android as an excuse not knowing the hardware is the root cause. 👀

Yay...

Seriously, its LG. They will all suck. I haven't met a single cell phone of theirs that I liked. Their TV's are pretty nice, though.
Ah...I like Samsung flat panels better.

But then again LCDs are still way, way too much, at least in the size I like! I own a Samsung DLP 😁 I've had mine for 2yrs.

Commitment to Samsung?

I'm not sure if LG blatantly copies samsung phones on the other networks but on Sprint LG tries to duplicate Samsung phones nonstop!
yea I remember the days of olde which Sanyo phones. The best one made was the Sanyo M1. That phone was a powerhouse of features for being a feature phone of it's time. I had LG on sprint & verizon. after a while you quit blaming the carrier when you r...
