Skyfire Chooses Android Over BlackBerry

In a post on the official SkyFire blog, CEO Jeff Glueck announced that the company will pause development on the BlackBerry platform and focus its immediate efforts on Google's Android instead. Glueck cited a difficult development environment, especially the BlackBerry OS' Java virtual machine, as the reason why Skyfire would not be able to produce a satisfactory browser for RIM's handsets under current conditions. Glueck made clear that in the future Skyfire might return to BlackBerry development as RIM rolls out a Webkit-based browser for BlackBerry smartphones, possibly by the time BlackBerry OS 6.0 is released. He also hinted that Skyfire might appear on more platforms that currently support Webkit browsers. Nokia's Symbian OS, Palm's WebOS and Apple's iPhone OS all currently use a Webkit-based browser as standard.

I gotta be honest...

aside from it's ability to run flash, skyfire kind of sucks. I'd much rather use opera mini on my devices!

Maybe it was just the E71x I was using skyfire on that sucked, I don't know.
Nope. You are correct in your assessment. The browser is not that great but having flash is great. I only use it when I want to watch TV shows on network websites. Other than that, Opera is my workhorse.
