Mozilla recently released a fully functional version of its Firefox browser for Nokia's Maemo 5 platform. Firefox has been available to Maemo before in betas, but this is a complete build of the browser. Some of its features include Firefox's Awesome Bar bookmark controller, Weave Sync for syncing your mobile and desktop settings, add-ons for customizing the browser, location-awareness for the most relevant information, and a safe browsing mode to protect user security. Firefox for Maemo supports 30 languages. Users of the N900 will be able to download the software for free from Mozilla.

Makes sense to make a browser for a Dead End OS

Why invest a ton of hours investing in a dead OS [ no offense to my nokia friends]? Maemo may have had the potential to become a major OS but because of timing, it will never pick up even if it is light years ahead of the game. Even Nokia announced that it will only release one other Maemo device in 2010. And I'm saying this as a nokia fan. I've enjoyed the n=series n73,n95,n82,n86 and symbian was a good platform for non-touch devices. Maemo, on the other hand, is 1.5 years late to the game and after 2010, we'll never hear about it again.

I wish!!!

Mozilla would make Firefox available on all smartphone platforms 🤤
They already have Fennec which has been available for WinMo and they announced an Android version. iPhone... is well... Apple... so I doubt it for them.
