Google recently launched a new search service for the iPhone and Android platforms that makes it easier to find businesses and points of interest in the immediate vicinity of the user. The new tool uses drop-down menus to minimize typing and will take advantage of GPS data to provide information about places that are close by. Near Me Now also includes a category search option that lets users easily look for nearby coffee shops, movie theaters, etc. The New Me Now feature works within the browser on iPhones running OS 3.0 and up, and Android devices running 2.0.1 and up.
