Samsung Intros Multi-Device Apps Store

Today Samsung announced a new application store that is compatible with Samsung TVs, blu-ray players and select mobile phones. The Samsung Apps Store will be primarily for TVs, with applications launching within a few months. Content partners will include companies such as AccuWeather.com, The Associated Press, Blockbuster, Fashion TV, Netflix, Picasa, Pandora, Rovi, Travel Channel, Twitter, USA TODAY, and Vudu. According to Samsung, several of the apps available this year will allow Samsung HDTVs to interact with select Samsung Wi-Fi-enabled phones. For example, Samsung says that consumers could play a game of poker on the TV and use a phone to control the on-screen play. The initial batch of apps will be free.
