RIM Blames Outage on Messenger Update

BlackBerry users in North and South America experienced an interruption in their services on December 22, making it impossible to communicate via BlackBerry Messenger and delaying email delivery. Phone calls and SMS features weren't disabled. RIM said in a statement today, "Root cause is currently under review, but based on preliminary analysis, it currently appears that the issue stemmed from a flaw in two recently released versions of BlackBerry Messenger (versions 5.0.0.55 and 5.0.0.56) that caused an unanticipated database issue within the BlackBerry infrastructure. RIM has taken corrective action to restore service. RIM continues to monitor its systems to maintain normal service levels and apologizes for any inconvenience to customer." This is the second time in five days that BlackBerry users have experienced service problems.

White Flight

Looks like the "white flight" phenomenon we see in cities is hitting the Blackberry platform as well ("Corporate flight?") Sloppier upkeep, lower-rent new models, etc.

And if you don't believe me look how many twitterberry users have hair extensions.
ha ha ha!!! Ever try on something labeled "one size fits all" and have it not fit?...

Sometimes on flavor gets old and you wan't the option to try more...

naw...you would never understand 🤣
...
Are you implying that white people are abandoning the Blackberry platform because increasing numbers of people of color are becoming Blackberry users?

If so, then they can fly all the way back to Europe and go live in caves for all I care.

BLACKBERRY OUTAGE!!!

I never really like RIMS because of the fact they are so bulky and they are slow and have limited updates. I had a blackberry for my first phone and I ended up returning it for an LG which I liked so much better. I kept taking my blackberry back to the store where i bought it and they always "refreshed" it but it did the same thing. DONT BUY THEM at all... my opinion... 🤣

THANKS RIM!

😡

Yea I couldn't recieve emails, browse the web, BBM, Ping, and even SMS for 8 hours! It wouldn't even allow me to log into the blackberry website from my laptop. Not very happy this week at my crackberry! 3rd problem this week, but yesterdays was the worst!

Didn't it say that the phone calls and SMS weren't affected? I think you've got issues other than their outage to look at.

BB ?

I have never had a blackberry, tell me why do people need one. Want most smart phones do what a BB does? I know my Nokia and Iphone both have push email. I am not putting down BB, I just want to know why people prefer them over other devices

I had no idea.

I did not even realize there was an outage. Maybe I don't need my Berry after all...
It depends on what ya use it for....

Sounds like you don't need it as much as you thought you did. It was a long outage

Web Outage

Was having problems yesterday but Opera was still working to get online.

Download Opera Mini.
The "web2go" (formerly T-Zones) was working and I could access websites that way. That's it.
