AT&T has launched a new service that will transcribe voicemails to text and then deliver them to a user's handset via text message, email or both. Users can respond to or forward voicemails via text, email or voice and can also store their voicemails for an indefinite period of time. The service is being provided by Nuance and costs $10 per month.

Google Voice

Is there any wonder that they hate Google so much? Google Voice provides this feature as well as text messaging for free. I am glad to see how much my GV feature is worth.

haha. what' next?

better 3G coverage, additional 10$ a month! haha
Hahaha, that's what they could do for the web if there is no net nutr. Charge you for so much data transfer. No more unlimited home internet.

I'd actually like this if I didn't have to pay extra for it. Oh well...

lol AT&T your behind and your charging for it how sad.. I've had it with sprint for 2 years now and its FREE

Already have it for free

That's funny. I already have this for free. Google Voice lets me forward unanswered calls from my AT&T phone to my Google Voice account, where they are transcribed and sent to me via text message, and also archived.

Plus I get the ability to play different voicemail messages for different callers based on whether they are listed in my contacts and, if so, under what group.

Carriers should stop trying to provide every possible service for a fee. Give us a reliable connection at a reasonable price, period. Let voicemail services, web services, call forwarding services, email services, etc etc, compete against one another in an open market. You can't possibly do better than that with your proprietary services.
yeah i have this service with google voice as well. Google voice never gets it right tho the text messages make no sense usually theyre random words in attempt to read what the voicemail said.

I have it for free as well with Youmail. It works great, the vast majority of the transcriptions are accurate even when people speak as if they had a mouth full of gravel.
