Sony Ericsson announced the new Xperia X10, which will be the first in a series of phones to arrive in the first half of 2010 from Sony Ericsson. The X10 will run Android 1.6 (Donut) and is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Sony says that the X10 will have a new user interface that features a number of custom applications developed by Sony Ericsson. The two signature applications are Timescape and Mediascape. Timescape is a messaging application that lets users access all of their communications in one place, including social networks. Mediascape is a media management application that lets users more easily find and access their media, including YouTube and Sony Ericsson's PlayNow apps store. The X10 features a 4-inch WVGA 480 x 854 pixel touch display that is scratch resistant. The X10 will have quad-band GSM/EDGE radios and two different 3G configurations, including 900/2100 and 800/850/1900/2100MHz UMTS/HSPA. It has an 8.1 megapixel camera that supports geo-tagging, face/smile detection, image stabilization, auto-focus and flash. It runs Bluetooth with A2DP, GPS and Wi-Fi, and has tight integration with Google services, such as Maps, Gmail, Calendar and Talk. It will be available in the first quarter of 2010 in black or white. Pricing wasn't disclosed.
