Sep 24, 2009, 7:21 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today the LiMo Foundation announced that a number of global mobile network operators intend to release handsets starting late this year based upon the existing R2 and planned 2010 R3 release of the LiMo Platform. Those operators include Verizon Wireless in the U.S., as well as NTT DoCoMo, Orange, SK Telecom, Telefonica, and Vodafone. Handsets running LiMo will enable network operators to offer highly customized and adaptable services to their subscribers. The LiMo Foundation didn't specify exactly which handset makers will be supplying handsets, but the makers that belong to the organization include LG, Samsung, Casio Hitachi, ZTE, Huawei, NEC, and Panasonic. Verizon Wireless has not announced any specific details about which LiMo Platform release it will use, nor which handset maker will supply its hardware.
