Verizon Wireless Intros World-Roaming Modem

Today Verizon Wireless announced the ZTE AD3700, a new wireless modem for laptops that supports Verizon's EVDO Rev. A network here in the U.S., as well as GSM, EGDE, UMTS, and HSPA networks abroad. The AD3700 connects to laptops via USB and supports Windows Vista/XP/2000 operating systems. It will be available starting August 14 for $80 after rebate with new agreement. Data plans in the U.S. cost $60 per month for 5GB, though other plans are available. Verizon didn't detail what roaming data costs would be.

Qualcomm has just announced the two chips that will power a great number of entry-level and mid-range Android phones in 2023: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Both chips integrate a 5G modem and include upgraded performance as well as new features compared to the chips they replace.

People expect cheap roaming charges abroad? sheesh, if I have the money to actually travel I don't think I'm really going to worry about the cost to use a data card abroad.

Waste of money

It took this long for Verizon to come out with this. What a waste...$60 domestic plan, that's typical, no big deal there but then you have to pay for the device yet? Why not just get an AT&T aircard then which is free, same price for domestic data and since they've had roaming agreements with carriers overseas for years, the roaming rates are much better then Verizon would have just aqquired I'm sure.
