IBM, Nuance Form JV to Spread Voice Services

Today Nuance Communications and IBM announced new joint venture whereby the two companies will collaborate to bring voice-enabled services to a wider range of industries. The industries include: automotive, banking, electronics, energy and utilities, healthcare and life sciences, insurance, media and entertainment, retail, telecommunications, and travel and transportation. The two companies hope to make it easier for these industries to take advantage of voice services and integrate them into the way their businesses function. IBM and Nuance agreed to share technology and resources. With respect to telecommunications, the two companies plan to work with manufacturers to incorporate next-generation technologies that focus on voice access to device control, search and media management.
