Today Nuance Communications announced that it has acquired Jott. Jott created the Jott Assistant, Jott Voicemail and Jott Salesforce applications for mobile phones. Jott Assistant, in particular, is a voice-enabled application that allows users to create memos, notes, messages, and set calendar appointments by speaking into their phones rather than typing. Nuance already offers a host of voice-enabled applications and services, and has acquired voice technology from other companies such as IBM and Zi in the last year. Nuance believes the acquisition of Jott will help it offer a fuller range of voice-based services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
