LG to Launch Apps Store in Asia, No U.S. Plans Yet

LG is prepared to launch its own apps store on Tuesday, July 14. The LG Applications Store will open with over 1,400 applications, available in 15 different languages. At least 100 applications will be free. LG plans to target the Asian markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and Australia with the apps store first. It will then to expand to Europe and South America by the end of 2009, by which time it expects to have more than 2,000 apps available for consumers to buy. At this point, LG has not announced any plans to open the LG Applications Store in the U.S.
