TracFone Debuts $45 Unlimited Plan Via StraightTalk
Jul 2, 2009, 3:35 PM by Eric M. Zeman
TracFone recently added a new calling plan to its list of pre-paid services. StraightTalk offers unlimited calling and messaging plus 30MB of data for $45 per month. Users can also select 1000 anytime minutes with 1000 messages for $30 per month. StraightTalk offers just three phones — the Motorola RAZR V3a and W385, and the LG 200CM. At $45 per month, StraightTalk is now the cheapest calling plan to offer unlimited calling and messaging. TracFone is an MVNO that operates using Verizon's network.

MVNO using VZW?
Does this mean that this new plan is only for the Tracfone/CDMA service areas?

What kind of Internet are they offering? Not that it matters...
But even if this is true full-service Internet access, browsing the Internet on a V3 is going to byte so much that you would never dream of using 30 megabytes. The Openwave browser itself barely works, the phone's processor is so slow that even a good browser wouldn't help, and the data speed is so slow that fixing the other two problems still might not raise it to the level of acceptability.
As long as TracFone doesn't run out of V3's, this plan is as generous as giving someone a mo-ped and offering to pay for any speeding tickets they get on the freeway.
