Ericsson Launches Its Own Mobile Apps Store

Network equipment maker Ericsson is following Qualcomm's lead by announcing a new, hosted applications store that wireless network operators can use to offer content to their customers. Earlier this year, Qualcomm introduced Plaza Retail, a way to distribute content to all phones via the network operator rather than the branded experiences offered by the likes of Apple, Google, Palm, RIM and Microsoft. Ericsson's store, similar to Qualcomm's, will be compatible with a wide variety of handsets and can be configured and controlled however the wireless network operators choose. Ericsson did not say if it has signed up any carrier customers for the new service, nor when it would be up and running.

Too Late...

The lack of responses to this thread reflects how irrelevant SE phones have become in the US. If only they would had given more effort to keep up with the US market by releasing high end/smartphones, or just more phones phones with american friendly MHz bands.
Geez, I don't know about that. I've got a lot of my customers who are anticipating the Tour. I'm excited.
Not too late. They will make money off this project. Though i will agree with you by saying too little. Only way i can see this taking off the ground is if they gave away apps for at least 1 month free. Outside of that, i can see some loyal fans tryin...
