Today Verizon Wireless announced the Ozone from HTC. Similar to the Dash 3G and Snap, it is a bar-style device with full QWERTY keyboard for messaging and runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. It has EVDO REV. A 3G in the U.S., and quad-band GSM/EDGE for overseas roaming. It also has Wi-Fi GPS, 2.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and video capture, microSD memory slot with support of up to 16GB, and stereo Bluetooth. The Ozone can be ordered starting June 29 and will be in stores July 13. It will cost $50 after rebated with new agreement.

Windows Mobile

Am I the only person who can't stand that operating system.

Why does EVERY Windows Mobile phone have to be rebooted every 3 days or so?

No you are not the only one to hate this OS. There are i...

I've never had a reliability issue with winmo phones rebooting. However, I hate winmo with touchscreen since it seems to take 5 clicks to do anything.

WinMo standard, the non-touchcreen version, I think is a home run. Easy to navigate, full email,...

Basic TouchScreen / Grafitti capabilities ..?

Since I can't see the HTC Ozone yet in stores, does anyone know if there is BASIC touch screen or Grafitti (handwriting recoginition) support like in WinMo 5? Yeah, I still have my Treo 700wx 🙂 Love the keyboard but I love WinMo, and I love being able to touch the screen to select items or move/insert cursor in the middle of SMS or emails. It's the primary reason I don't want a BB - can't stand scrolling all over the darn place!!

Anyone have any insight or feedback into this?

My First Impressions of the Ozone

I am the proud new owner of the Ozone and thought I would give you my first impressions.

Overall: I like it a lot so far. Good display, fast, good weight, decent keyboard.

The display is amazingly bright / crisp and displays video very well (You Tube). I give it an A on display quality.

Speed of the phone and apps I have loaded has been very good. I have not seen any lag at all.

The size of the display was known to me so I wont knock it for being small as I traded screen size for the built in qwerty keyboard. I had a slide out keyboard before and didnt use it as much as I thought I would and resorted to the stylus instead so I wanted to go back to the built in keyboard style and was willing to try a non-touch screen model.

Huge Battery?

I recently got a sneak peek of this phone. The rep told me to take the battery out. It's MASSIVE 😲 , although not noticeable if you didn't know to look, it doesn't affect the phone's balance, it actually feels very nice in the hand). He told me that they put such a large one in to counteract the characteristically poor battery life associated with windows mobile 6.1 Standard phones like the Motorola Q Series.

50 after rebate?

a WM phone with global roaming and Wifi... was that a typo?
Go to Walmart and they are selling the Jack and the new Nokia E97 for around 60. My question is since quality WM Standard phones are getting cheaper, shouldn't the same apply for WM professional?

vzw will have it for 50, but it does look like a lower end winmo phone, plus its not as small as it looks

The first HTC branded phone for VZW?

Pretty sure it is. every other HTC has just had the Verizon logo on it. Its about time HTC gets their logo on the phones.
My Touch Pro had it on the back.

I believe every model since 6800 has had the logo at least on the inside behind the battery, I know all of mine did (I've had every model since 6600, so far). When Touch Pro came out Verizon was finally referring t...

Looks good and specs seem nice....

Guess I'll have to wait till July 13th to see it at the store... grrr...
Price is right too. The only thing I'm worried about is it being another Q. In that I mean this: Where's the touchscreen, or did I miss that in the features?

I know the $50 price point is low for a WinMo touchscreen, but with that, it would make...
