Acer Joins Open Handset Alliance, Android Phones On the Way

Today Acer announced that it officially joined the Google-led Open Handset Alliance. It also indicated that it will launch phones based on the Android operating system, with one hitting the market by the fourth quarter of 2009. Acer didn't say which countries this device would be offered in, nor which mobile network operators might offer it. The OHA already has over 40 members.
