Today Verizon Wireless announced Verizon Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID, a new secure log-in tool that creates a two-stage authentication process without the need for additional hardware. This piece of software will let users access data or services (VPNs, WLANs, Web servers, intranets) that are located behind corporate firewalls only after a confirmed log-in. It will allow IT departments to remotely reset the log-in if a device is lost or stolen, and can also provide new credentials to employees if they are unable to log-in. The software requires enterprise set up and costs $2 per month.
