Google recently announced the newest iteration of the Android platform, dubbed Android 1.5. This new version of Android comes from the 'Cupcake' branch of code that developers have been working on and brings a lot of its features to Android. Some of these include new support for home screen widgets, software keyboards, live folders, and speech recognition. Google is also making an early version of the Android 1.5 SDK available to developers, which includes a new add-on for the Google APIs. The new system software is not yet ready for end users to install, and Google did not say when it would become available to the general public.
