Today Verizon Wireless announced some upgrades to its 411 directory and VZ Navigator services. Customers who perform 411 searches to find a phone number or address now have the option to send themselves a link for that location. The customer then accesses the link in VZ Navigator and can view the location on a map or get directions. Verizon has also added speech recognition to VZ Navigator. Users can choose to speak their navigation requests rather than type them. Verizon the sends the voice request to its servers, where it is analyzed and then returns the directions to the phone. The voice recognition feature works with mapping, navigation, local search and any other destination where data entry would be required. VZ Navigator requires a monthly subscription of $10, and 411 Directory Assistance costs $1.50 per call.
