Today T-Mobile USA announced availability of its first USB wireless broadband modem. The T-Mobile webConnect USB Laptop Stick is made by Huawei and features tri-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 1700/1900/2100MHz HSDPA/UMTS radios. It includes a microSD slot supporting cards up to 8GB, and with on-board Wi-Fi, also supports T-Mobile's HotSpot Network. The dongle has T-Mobile's Connection Manager software built-in to help find the best connection. The T-Mobile webConnect USB Laptop Stick supports Windows XP and Vista at launch, with support for Apple computers coming at a later date. Customers can access 5GB of wireless data per month for $60, with a $0.20/MB overage charge. The dongle is available for $50 with a two-year agreement, or for $250 with no contract. It is available in select retail stores and online starting March 25.
