Motorola Announces Rugged Business Phones

Today Motorola announced the latest addition to it highly rugged roster of enterprise digital assistants, the MC55. This smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and has quad-band GSM/EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios on board. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus, 1D/2D scanners, and 3.5-inch touch screen. One version of the MC55 (MC5574) has a full QWERTY keyboard and the other (MC5590) has a standard 12-key dialpad. Both are VoIP and PTT capable. Exact pricing was not disclosed, but both versions of the phone are available in select markets around the world. The MC5574 will be available in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2009.
