Today Motorola announced the latest addition to it highly rugged roster of enterprise digital assistants, the MC55. This smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and has quad-band GSM/EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios on board. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus, 1D/2D scanners, and 3.5-inch touch screen. One version of the MC55 (MC5574) has a full QWERTY keyboard and the other (MC5590) has a standard 12-key dialpad. Both are VoIP and PTT capable. Exact pricing was not disclosed, but both versions of the phone are available in select markets around the world. The MC5574 will be available in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2009.

I am not trying to be mean but you should read before posting. Sprint is a cdma carrier and

Motorola has introduced plenty of phones like this, and has a strong (but small) industrial market cornered when it comes to industrial telecom. In almost all cases, these devices are sold entirely separate from service, and in many cases will never ...

No 3g, what Crap

Crap, dated crap, old crap. No 3g? Damned, Moto screwed the pooch on this one.
Considering it's intended market niche which wouldn't include users that like to stream TV all day, the lack of 3G would be less important.

Still many current phones coming to market without 3G in them

Nice!

With phones getting ever smaller and more delicate with every passing year, it's nice to see this type of phone become available for those that use their phones in tough environments. 😁
this is thinking outside the box, and still within their thinking of their rugged phones.

this can do anything but hurt Motorola. Good job!

3.5 inch screen?

Either that's a typo or this phone is huge!! Seriously the iphone is 3.5, just think of the iphone size and add another two inches below that for the keypad. This thing would be like 6 inches long. But hey, if you need a phone that big and can take a beating then I guess it'll work.
Doesn't appear to be a typo, besides size tends to be less of a concern with a "rugged" type phone than durability.
