AT&T Cautions Quickfire Owners About Charge Port

After receiving a number of reports about overheating handsets, AT&T has decided to warn owners of the Quickfire handset on how to properly use the phone's charging jack/port. AT&T plans to send an email and free SMS to Quickfire owners. It will say, "Please take special care when charging your Quickfire GTX75 mobile phone. There have been a few reports of significant overheating of the phone when the AC Charger adapter is inserted incorrectly and forced into the phone. The clearly marked, embossed arrow on the AC Charger adapter should always be face-up on the same side as the display screen of the Quickfire when it is inserted into the phone. See the diagram below for proper positioning and insertion of the AC Charger adapter into the phone. You should never force the AC Charger adapter into the phone." AT&T recently halted sales of the Quickfire. If phone makers adopt the GSMA-proposed standard phone charging port (microUSB), situations like this could be avoided because it is physically impossible to insert a microUSB plug in incorrectly.

Replacement

I was told they are replacing it with the Pantech Matrix. Ugh...I hope it' the Matrix Pro instead of the first one. Fat chance for that tho. I'm going tomorrow to get my replacement. Too bad, I sorta liked the Quickfire even without its OBEX Bluetooth.
That's been changed. It's now being replaced with the Propel.

I hate this phone!

I was at the store about 2 months ago asking about the iPhone nano, but the agent wouldn't sell me one and he told me that the Quickfire was actually smaller than the iPhone3g but he didn't have any iPhone3g's in the store to compare between.

2 weeks ago i ordered a car charger from ebay for $6 I should have noticed that it was a little harder than normal to plug the phone into the charger but it was my first time using it. i had the phone resting on my lap so i could feel it vibrate if someone called while i was rocking out to Carrie Underwood. Then BAM i heard a small explosion come from my crotch area and felt fire ants ruining my manhood! the car ran off the road and rolled over twice knocking me unconscious I awoke in a hospital bed ...

PCD does it again!

Certainly by now they might learn building cheap crap that breaks so violently is not good for PR.
Went into the AT&T Store today, they are replacing my daughters Quickfire with a Propel, they couldn't do it in the store, but via the mail.

I have to admit, both the store staff and the warranty woman on the phone were understanding, friendly an...
