Ericsson and carrier partner Telstra have reached wireless download speeds of 42Mbps with Ericsson's High-Speed Packet Access technology. Telstra already offers 21Mbps downloads via its network. The speed improvements come via the use of multi-carrier technology, which lets end-users receive data through two channels rather than just one. Multi-carrier technology also leads to better performance at the cell edge. Telstra plans to offer this technology in mobile Internet dongles by the end of 2009.
