Garmin, Asus to Co-Brand Mobile Phones

Today Garmin and Asus announced a joint venture that will produce navigation-enabled mobile phones. The two companies have already begun working on an entire line of devices, which will be called the Garmin-Asus nüvifone series. The two firms hope to bring to market several Garmin-Asus nüvifone models in 2009. GPS and location-basd services will be the core features of these products. They said that a new Garmin-Asus nüvifone model will be announced at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona later this month. The original nüvifone announced last year will be re-branded as the Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 and should be available in the first half of 2009. More details about it will also be announced at the Mobile World Congress trade show.
