Today Palm announced its next-generation smartphone, the Pre. It is a touch-based phone, that has a 3.1-inch display with 320 x 480 resolution. It has EVDO Rev. A for connectivity, as well as GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR with stereo support. It has 8GB of on-board storage, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, replaceable battery, and 3.5mm headset jack. It comes with a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash. Palm also introduced its next-generation mobile platform, called webOS. It includes gesture-based input for interacting with the device. The Pre will be launched on the Sprint network in the first half of 2009. Palm later confirmed that it is also working on a WCDMA version of the Pre, though it didn't say when or where it would be made available.
