Palm has scheduled a press conference during the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2009. According to BusinessWeek, Palm will use that opportunity to introduce its next-generation operating system, called Nova. Palm is aiming this new OS -- and the devices that use it -- at what Palm calls the "fat middle", or the range of users that fit between business-oriented devices from RIM and fun devices such as the Apple iPhone. Palm will also introduce a range of new devices that use the new OS, which will include smartphones and other devices, such as gaming handhelds. No details about the new operating system were shared, but Palm hopes to regain 2% of all mobile phone sales with its new OS and devices.
