Responding to a request from Congress, the Federal Communications Commission has put off its planned vote on the use of white space spectrum. The FCC was considering auctioning off white space spectrum, which are the unused spaces between television channels. The vote was planned for December 18. Lawmakers have asked the FCC to instead concentrate on a smooth transition from the analog television signals to the digital television signals, which is scheduled for February.
