Australian wireless provider Telstra and network technology provider Ericsson have successfully field tested an eHSPA/HSPA+/HSPA Evolution data call. eHSPA can reach peak speeds of 21Mbps on the downlink and 5.8Mbps on the uplink. Telstra didn't say what speeds were reached during this particular call. Such calls have been performed in labs, but this is the first to take place out on a deployed network. Telstra will be launching the eHSPA network commercially in 2009.
