Nokia Siemens Networks has successfully field tested new EDGE technology that doubles downlink speeds compared to today's EDGE networks. Nokia Siemens Networks’ Dual Carrier EDGE is a software-based solution that can double data speeds to 592Kbps on existing EDGE-capable GSM networks. Dual Carrier EDGE, based on the 3GPP release 7 standard, is the first step in the evolution of EDGE.
