Cable provider Cox Communications is expected to announce that it will build its own cellular wireless network. Cox won spectrum earlier this year in the 700MHz spectrum auction. Cox will use the Sprint network to enter the market in 2009. At the same time, Cox is also building its own 3G wireless network for to cover more markets in 2009. Cox plans to test 4G technology LTE (long term evolution) as well. Cox customers will be able to use their mobile phone to access television favorites, program their DVR, access content saved on their home computer and other services. Cox already provides video, phone and Internet services.
