Lawmakers Clear Way for GSM Service on D.C.'s Metro

Congress recently passed new legislation that would allow GSM cellular network operators to install and offer wireless services on the subway system of Washington, D.C. Currently, CDMA operators Verizon Wireless and Sprint (via roaming agreement with Verizon) offer services to their customers on the D.C. Metro. This new bill would allow operators such as T-Mobile and AT&T Mobility a better chance to compete by granting them permission to operate their networks in the subway system as well.
